A Safer, Smaller, Cleaner Subcritical Thorium Fission—Muonic Fusion Hybrid Reactor
نویسندگان
چکیده
Until the pure fusion ages come true, present nuclear power is a crucial option if humanity takes aim for zero net carbon society by 2050s. A thorium subcritical reactor activated and controlled muon-catalyzed (MuCF) an alternative until completion of reactors. This proposal consists two main technologies: steady-state MuCF fission with cascaded neutron multipliers. It will be environmentally friendly quantum energy source built only science technologies in few decades.

Labs Move to Cleaner Safer Extraction Methods
Solid phase extraction (SPE) and supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) have become established in the field of analytical chemistry over the last five years. Both techniques are alternatives to classical analytical extraction methods used to separate analytes from solid and liquid matrices. SFE is an alternative to traditional liquid-solid extraction methods, the two most common being soxhlet an...
متن کاملCritical Assessment of Thorium Reactor Technology
Thorium-based fuels for nuclear reactors are being considered for use with current and future designs in both large and small-scale energy production. Thorium-232 is as abundant on Earth as lead, far more common than all isotopes of uranium, leading to its greatly reduced cost. Thorium itself offers a significantly greater neutron absorption cross-section than uranium at thermal energies, resul...
متن کاملThe Fusion-Fission Hybrid Reactor for Energy Production: A Practical Path to Fusion Application
The fusion-fission hybrid system has the potential attractiveness of good safety performances and plenty of fuel compared to the fission reactor system and also easing the requirement of fusion plasma technology. It is a practical path to the early fusion application for energy production. In this paper, a fusion-driven subcritical reactor for energy multiplier, named FDS-EM, is proposed. It ca...
متن کاملNeutron Spallation Studies for an Accelerator Driven Subcritical Reactor
Nuclear power production can benefit from the development of more comprehensive alternatives for dealing with long-term radioactive waste. One such alternative is an accelerator-driven subcritical reactor (ADSR) which has been proposed for both energy production and for burning radioactive waste. Here we investigate the effects of the size of the ADSR spallation target on the total neutron yiel...
